The Municipality of Prosperidad earned two prestigious recognitions during the Provincial Summit of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT-VAWC) held on July 31, 2026, at the Provincial Learning Center, Old Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The municipality was conferred the LCPC with Ideal Functionality Level Award and the LCAT-VAWC with High Functionality Level Award, affirming its steadfast commitment to protecting children, promoting women’s rights, and strengthening local mechanisms against trafficking and violence.

With the theme, “Isang Nasyon, Isang Aksyon: Uniting Local Councils to Build Safer Communities Free from Trafficking, Violence Against Women and Children,” the summit brought together local government units, national government agencies, and key stakeholders to recognize exemplary local councils and reinforce collaborative efforts toward creating safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly communities.

The dual recognition reflects the Municipality of Prosperidad’s consistent efforts in institutionalizing responsive policies, implementing effective protection programs, and enhancing coordination among member agencies to address issues affecting children, women, and other vulnerable sectors. These achievements demonstrate the municipality’s adherence to national standards in promoting the welfare, protection, and empowerment of its constituents.

Mellana, Municipal Mayor of Prosperidad, In his response message, expressed his gratitude for the awards and acknowledged the collective efforts of the Local Government Unit, partner agencies, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders whose dedication made these accomplishments possible. He emphasized that the recognition serves as both an honor and a challenge to further strengthen initiatives that uphold the rights, safety, and well-being of every child, woman, and family in the municipality.
