The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Province of Agusan del Sur is currently conducting the learning activity entitled “Katarungang Pambarangay Execution and Enforcement of Amicable Settlements: Ensuring Compliance Beyond Conciliation” at the Provincial Learning Center, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
The activity is being attended by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Jorem J. Luzon, DILG Staff Ms. Liezl Mae Cuanan, together with participants from Barangay San Rafael, Prosperidad.
Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) is the country’s community-based justice system established under the Local Government Code of 1991. It provides an accessible and cost-effective mechanism for resolving disputes at the barangay level through mediation, conciliation, and amicable settlement, helping preserve harmony within communities while decongesting court dockets.
The activity aims to strengthen the knowledge and competencies of Katarungang Pambarangay practitioners on the proper execution and enforcement of amicable settlements through discussions on execution procedures, legal effects of amicable settlements, and repudiation of settlements.
Through this activity DILG Prosperidad remains committed to strengthening the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay by continuously enhancing the capabilities of barangay officials in delivering accessible, efficient, and community-based justice services.
