The Opao La Caridad Kulilay (OPALKU) Irrigatorsβ Association received a Solar Power System for its Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes from Bureau of Soils and Water Management valued at more than β±390,880.00.
The project aims to provide a sustainable and reliable power source for the associationβs Rotary Composter, which was previously provided to support the processing of biodegradable wastes into valuable organic materials for agricultural use.
Through this initiative, biodegradable wastes from farms and households can be transformed into useful compost and organic inputsβhelping reduce waste, improve waste management practices, and promote more sustainable and environmentally friendly farming.
The integration of solar energy and composting technology further strengthens the associationβs capacity to convert waste into a valuable agricultural resource while promoting renewable energy and a more circular approach to farming.
The activity was assisted by Engr. Benjie Fiel Banjao, Engr. Al Requierme, and AT Harold Tercepona, who provided technical and field assistance during the implementation of the project.
This initiative reflects the continuing commitment to empowering farmers and irrigatorsβ associations through appropriate technology, renewable energy, and sustainable agricultural practices.
