CSO Leadership Selection and Unity Meeting

A productive gathering was held during the CSO Leadership Selection and Unity Meeting, dedicated to strengthening people’s participation and promoting collaborative governance between our CSOs and the LGU.
Highlights:
Engr. Ludelio S. Paray opened the program, emphasizing the vital role of CSOs in transparent and responsive governance.
Sir Jorem Luzon, MLGOO of DILG Prosperidad, discussed key topics including the functions and reorganization of the Local People’s Council, DILG MC 2025-060, and the selection of CSO representatives to Local Special Bodies.
The CSO Desk Officer Focal expressed gratitude to all partners, especially to Hon. Frederick Mark Plaza Mellana, for his steadfast support to CSOs as partners in participatory governance.
Together, we continue to empower CSOs as active partners in local development, ensuring that the people’s voices are heard and valued.

We had a productive one-hour meeting with CSOs from the Transport Group together with Ma’am Tata Tejadillo, Congressman Alfel Bascug’s Chief of staff, Judy Enterio, from MBCD Prosperidad and our Municipal Administrator Richel Tumulak on behalf of our Municipal Mayor Frederick Mark Plaza Mellana. The meeting focused on the preparation for the upcoming Birthday Food Pack Distribution of Congressman Alfel Bascug for our registered transport groups.

The LGU of Prosperidad, in partnership with accredited Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Municipal People’s Council, and the Gawad Kalinga Foundation Development Inc. (GKFDI) OGP Field Teams a third-party organization engaged by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) successfully conducted the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Localization Program.

This activity was conducted by Gawad Kalinga Foundation Development Inc. (GKFDI) as part of their engagement with the DILG to localize the OGP Program and document open government practices in selected local government units.

The OGP Localization Program aims to institutionalize the principles of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation at the local level by identifying and capturing exemplary governance practices.

As part of the initiative, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was facilitated to gather insights, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration between government and community stakeholders. This was made possible with the active involvement of key local offices: the Municipal Planning Office, Municipal Budget Office, Secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan, Public Employment Service Office, GSO/BAC, Municipal Treasury, Municipal Information Office, Municipal Administrator, and the Office of the Municipal Mayor.

Together with GKFDI, DILG, and our CSO partners, the LGU of Prosperidad remains steadfast in building a culture of open, inclusive, and participatory governance ensuring that leadership is truly with the people and for the people.
