Collaborative Inspection Targets Fuel Compliance in Prosperidad

PROSPERIDAD, AGUSAN DEL SUR – In a proactive move to ensure consumer protection and fair trade practices, the Department of Energy (DOE) Mindanao Field Office led a joint inspection and price monitoring operation across liquid fuel retail outlets in Brgy. Poblacion on March 25, 2026.

The joint operation highlights a multi-agency commitment to regulating the local energy sector, ensuring that anti-hoarding and fuel dispensing measures are properly observed, while protecting the continuity of legitimate fuel transactions and preventing unnecessary disruption to the traveling public and commercial operations.

The inspection was spearheaded by the Municipal Local Price Coordinating Council (MLPCC), showcasing a robust collaboration between national agencies and local enforcement. The team included representatives from:
• Department of Energy (DOE): Providing technical expertise on fuel quality and calibration.
• Department of Trade and Industry (DTI): Ensuring compliance with fair pricing and consumer laws.
• Philippine National Police (PNP) & Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP): Monitoring physical security and adherence to fire safety protocols at pumping stations.
• LGU Prosperidad: Facilitating local coordination and business permit verification.

The monitoring team focused on Key Areas to Monitor On-Site:
1. Fuel Inventory Levels : Check inventory documents and physical stock via dipstick measurement of underground storage tanks.
2. Daily Sales Volume: Review daily sales records to determine how many liters of fuel are sold each day.
3. Purchase Limits per Vehicle: Verify if fuel purchase limits are enforced.
4. Unusual / Bulk Purchases: Flag bulk purchases exceeding normal use.
5. Allowed Containers Only: Check if fuel is dispensed in DOE-approved containers.
6. Posted Purchase Limit Notices: Verify visible signs on temporary purchase limits are posted at pumps where applicable.

This collaborative effort ensures that our constituents are getting their money’s worth while maintaining the safety standards of our local fuel stations,” the council noted during the activity.

The MLPCC encourages the public to remain vigilant. Consumers are advised to check for the sticker of calibration on pumps and report any significant price discrepancies or suspicious pump behavior to the local authorities.

Regular inspections are expected to continue to maintain market stability and protect the interests of the motoring public in the Municipality.
