Culmination Program for the 48th National Disability Rights Week

The Culmination Program for the 48th National Disability Rights Week was successfully conducted on July 24, 2026, bringing together persons with disabilities (PWDs) from the municipality to celebrate their rights, abilities, and contributions to the community.

The program formally opened with an invocation led by the Special Needs Education (SNED) learners and teachers from Sta. Irene Central Elementary School. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Clarilin P. Santa, RSW, MPA, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO), who warmly welcomed all participants and emphasized the importance of promoting inclusivity, equal opportunities, and continued support for the PWD sector.

One of the highlights of the program was the presentation by the SNED learners, who showcased their talents and inspired the audience through their meaningful performance. Afterwards, Mr. Aproniano G. Robles, Municipal and Provincial Federation President and Board of Director of the Caraga Force of Persons with Disabilities, delivered an inspiring message encouraging PWDs to continue advocating for their rights and actively participate in community development.

The program also featured the distribution of wheelchairs and crutches to selected beneficiaries, providing much-needed mobility assistance to persons with disabilities. In addition, participants enjoyed singing and dancing competitions, which showcased their talents, creativity, and confidence while fostering camaraderie and unity among the attendees.

To further promote the health and well-being of the participants, free wellness services were provided throughout the activity. These services included massage, haircut, manicure, and pedicure, allowing the attendees to enjoy a day of care and relaxation.

The program concluded with the Closing Remarks delivered by Mr. Ryan B. Salinas, PDAO Head Designate, who expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event and reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting programs and services for persons with disabilities.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Municipal Mayor Hon. Frederick P. Mellana for his unwavering support and commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities, which greatly contributed to the success of the Culmination Program for the 48th National Disability Rights Week.

Special thanks are also extended to the Barangay Councils that provided food and transportation assistance, enabling their PWD members to actively participate in the program. Sincere appreciation is likewise given to Ms. Clarilin P. Santa, RSW, MPA, for her dedication and unwavering support for the PWD sector, as well as to the MSWDO staff for their invaluable assistance during the gift-giving activity and throughout the entire program.

Finally, heartfelt appreciation is extended to all PWD Presidents and their members who actively participated in the celebration. Their cooperation, enthusiasm, and commitment greatly contributed to the success of the 48th National Disability Rights Week Culmination Program, making it a meaningful and memorable event that celebrated inclusion, empowerment, and community solidarity.
