Empowering Indigenous Peoples Women Through Basic Financial Training

The Municipal Population and Development Office (MPDO) recently facilitated the Enhancing Financial Awareness and Economic Resilience of Indigenous Peoples Women in Prosperidad Through Basic Financial Training, a seminar-workshop aimed at uplifting the financial knowledge and economic standing of Indigenous Peoples (IP) women in the municipality.

Gracing the event as the resource speaker was Ma’am Evelyn T. Monato, MPA, who brought with her a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to local economic development. Ma’am Monato currently serves as the Municipal Livelihood and Training Coordinator (MLTC) and concurrently as the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer – Designate of Prosperidad.

With her extensive background in livelihood programs and economic development, Ma’am Monato delivered a comprehensive discussion on basic financial literacy — equipping IP women participants with practical knowledge on budgeting, saving, and building economic resilience within their households and communities.
Letting the IP women and mothers at the same time realize the importance of daily income and expense recording and allowing them to monitor their daily cash flow in a household setting.

Her presentation underscored the importance of financial awareness as a foundational tool for empowerment, particularly among Indigenous Peoples women who face unique socioeconomic challenges. Through her guidance, participants gained valuable insights that are expected to translate into more informed financial decisions and stronger economic footing in their daily lives.

The seminar-workshop reflects the municipality’s continued dedication to inclusive development ensuring that even the most marginalized sectors of society are given the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.
