From Analysis to Action: Preparing the Land Use Plan – Turning Insights into Spatial Decisions
Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – Local planners, development partners, and community stakeholders recently gathered for the technical training “From Analysis to Action: Preparing the Land Use Plan,” a key activity in advancing the municipality’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).
The training focused on Step 7 of the CLUP process, guiding participants in translating sectoral analyses, development goals, and spatial strategies into a coherent and actionable land use plan. With the support of planning tools and mapping techniques, attendees were able to structure proposed land use frameworks, identify growth and protection areas, and integrate risk-sensitive and climate-responsive approaches.
Participants included civil society organizations, representatives from national agencies, public utility providers, and municipal department heads, reflecting the collaborative, multi-sectoral approach essential for effective spatial planning.
Engr. John Cris C. Malupa, the guest speaker, emphasized the importance of aligning local spatial policies with broader development directions and national standards. “Land use planning is more than maps and zoning—it is about making informed decisions that balance growth, sustainability, and resilience,” he said.
The training offered hands-on opportunities for participants to develop evidence-based and defensible land use proposals, ensuring that the planning process moves seamlessly from analysis to action. By the end of the session, participants reported having a clearer pathway toward translating complex planning data into practical spatial decisions that support long-term development goals.
As the municipality continues to advance its CLUP, initiatives like this training serve as a cornerstone for inclusive, informed, and climate-smart land use planning that benefits the entire community.
