LGU Prosperidad Launches Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program to Drive Digital Transformation

PROSPERIDAD, AGUSAN DEL SUR — In a significant step toward local economic digitalization, the Local Government Unit of Prosperidad successfully conducted the Launching and Orientation of the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program on April 28, 2026, at the Farmers Hall, Municipal Agriculture Building.

The initiative aligns with Executive Order No. 98, Series of 2026 the local measure institutionalizing the Paleng-QR Ph program within the Municipality of Prosperidad, as signed by Municipal Mayor Frederick Mark P. Mellana.

The event was facilitated by the Technical Working Group (TWG), led by Municipal Treasurer Roberto S. Sabuero, MPA to ensure a streamlined rollout, the team collaborated with various departments and stakeholders, including:

• Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO)
• Municipal Economic Enterprise Office
• Information and Technology Unit (ITU)
• Financial Service Providers Representatives
• PTODA Representatives (Local Transport)
• Business Sector Group

The resource speaker Sir Peter Roland Arenas of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Mindanao served as the keynote presenter. He emphasized that the program’s primary goal is to promote digital payments through the QR Ph code. By integrating this technology into public markets and local transport, the LGU aims to enhance financial inclusion and accelerate the town’s transition into a digital economy.

To provide immediate support, Financial Service Providers (FSPs) Maya and Palawan Pay conducted on-site orientations and assisted stakeholders with instant “Account Opening” sessions, ensuring that vendors and transport operators are ready to accept cashless payments immediately.

The successful launch of the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program marks a milestone in Prosperidad’s journey toward a ‘Smart Municipality’ status. By bridging the gap between traditional commerce and modern technology, LGU Prosperidad is not only making transactions safer and more convenient but is also ensuring that no local vendor or driver is left behind in the digital age.
