LGU Prosperidad Strengthens Food Security and Energy Conservation Efforts Amid Global Crisis
In response to the ongoing global crisis affecting food systems and resource availability, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Prosperidad conducted an orientation focused on conservation measures and food security at the Municipal Agriculture Office Conference Hall.
The activity gathered municipal employees to raise awareness on the importance of sustainable practices and proactive measures in ensuring food availability at the household and community levels. Recognizing the growing challenges brought about by global uncertainties, the orientation emphasized that local action plays a crucial role in building resilience.
A key highlight of the activity was the distribution of vegetable seedlings to participating employees. This initiative aims to encourage households to engage in backyard gardening, providing a practical and sustainable source of food. Alongside the distribution, agricultural personnel shared essential knowledge on proper planting techniques, plant care, and maintenance to help ensure the success of the seedlings.
Participants were guided on how to nurture the plants—from soil preparation and watering practices to pest management—empowering them with skills that can be readily applied in their own homes.
In addition to food security efforts, the orientation also reinforced energy conservation measures to be practiced across all municipal offices. Employees were reminded of simple yet effective actions such as minimizing electricity use, optimizing natural lighting, and promoting energy-efficient practices in daily operations.
Through initiatives like this, LGU Prosperidad continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, resource conservation, and the well-being of its constituents. By equipping employees with knowledge and tools, the municipality takes a step forward in fostering a resilient and self-sustaining community in the face of global challenges.
