MPDSO Participates in the 5-Day Provincial Level Training on R Programming and Data Management Using the 2024 CBMS Data

The Municipal Planning and Development Services Office (MPDSO) of the Municipality of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur actively participated in the 5-Day Provincial Level Training on R Programming and Data Management Using the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data, conducted from June 22 to 26, 2026.

The training gathered Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators, CBMS focal persons, statisticians, data managers, and planning personnel from various local government units across the province. The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ technical competencies in managing, processing, analyzing, and visualizing the 2024 CBMS dataset using R Programming, an open-source statistical computing and data analysis software widely used for research, planning, and policy development.

Throughout the five-day training, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions and practical workshops covering data importation, cleaning, validation, transformation, statistical analysis, and data visualization. They were also introduced to efficient coding techniques and workflow automation that improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of managing large-scale datasets.

The training emphasized the significance of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) as an essential source of localized socioeconomic information. By utilizing modern analytical tools such as R Programming, local government units are better equipped to identify development priorities, formulate evidence-based policies, monitor community indicators, and evaluate the effectiveness of government programs and interventions.

The knowledge and skills gained during the training will enable the Municipal Planning and Development Services Office to maximize the use of the 2024 CBMS data in preparing development plans, generating statistical reports, conducting poverty and demographic analyses, and supporting informed decision-making at the local level.

The Municipality of Prosperidad recognizes that investing in the continuous professional development of its personnel is fundamental to achieving responsive, transparent, and data-driven governance. Through active participation in capacity-building programs such as this, the MPDSO remains committed to enhancing the quality of public service and ensuring that local development initiatives are guided by accurate, reliable, and timely information.

As the Municipality continues to embrace digital transformation and evidence-based planning, the competencies gained from this provincial-level training will contribute significantly to building smarter communities and fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient local development.
