MTO Strengthens Tax Compliance Through EBA at 7-Eleven Patin-ay

The Municipal Treasury Office (MTO) of Prosperidad, headed by Municipal Treasurer Roberto S. Sabuero, MPA, conducted an Examination of Books of Accounts (EBA) at Esprutingkle Retail Stores Corporation, operating as 7-Eleven Patin-ay, located at Purok 2, Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The activity was undertaken by the MTO EBA Team, led by Zainelio T. Lazaga, CPA, together with team members Placian M. Rafosala, Maria Corazon S. Almendras and Rexon N. Arapoc. The team coordinated with the establishment’s representatives and examined the available financial documents and business records.

During the examination, the team reviewed the establishment’s books of accounts, sales records, tax declarations, receipts, and other pertinent documents. The process aimed to verify the accuracy and completeness of reported business transactions and determine whether the appropriate local taxes, fees, and charges were properly assessed and paid in accordance with existing local tax laws and regulations.

Beyond reviewing financial records, the activity also provided an opportunity for the MTO team to discuss the importance of maintaining complete and accurate documentation. Proper recordkeeping enables business establishments to support their declared transactions, fulfill their tax obligations, and contribute to an efficient and transparent local revenue system.

The EBA activity forms part of the Municipal Government of Prosperidad’s continuing efforts to strengthen tax compliance, ensure fair and equitable taxation, and improve local revenue collection. The revenues generated from compliant businesses help fund essential public services, programs, and development projects that benefit the people of Prosperidad.

Through the continued conduct of the Examination of Books of Accounts, the MTO reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accountability, fairness, and responsible revenue administration, while fostering cooperation between the local government and the business community.
