MUNICIPALITY OF PROSPERIDAD IMPLEMENTS NEW TRICYCLE FARE MATRIX UNDER MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE NO. 264

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Prosperidad has officially implemented Municipal Ordinance No. 264, Series of 2026, establishing a new fare matrix for all tricycles-for-hire operating within the municipality.

The ordinance aims to ensure that tricycle fares remain fair, transparent, and responsive to fluctuations in fuel prices by adopting a derivative fare formula based on the prevailing average market price of gasoline.

Under the current fare schedule, with the average gasoline price ranging from ₱80.00 to ₱89.99 per liter, the minimum fare for the first five (5) kilometers is set at ₱16.00, while an additional ₱4.00 per passenger shall be charged for every succeeding kilometer.

The ordinance also provides a comprehensive Fare Matrix indicating the corresponding fares to various barangays and destinations within the municipality based on their distance from the Poblacion. Furthermore, Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Students are entitled to the appropriate fare discounts in accordance with existing laws and regulations.

This initiative promotes a balanced approach that protects both commuters and tricycle operators by ensuring reasonable transportation costs while considering the impact of fuel price movements on public transport operations.

The LGU encourages all tricycle operators, drivers, and commuters to familiarize themselves with the updated fare matrix and comply with the provisions of Municipal Ordinance No. 264 to promote fairness, transparency, and orderly public transportation services throughout the Municipality of Prosperidad.

For everyone’s guidance and strict compliance.
