POGS Strengthens Cervical Cancer Screening Through Supportive Supervision of VIA Services at MHO-Prosperidad

The Municipal Health Office of Prosperidad welcomed representatives from the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) on August 6, 2026 for a Supportive Supervision (SupSup) activity on the implementation of Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), a vital cervical cancer screening service offered by the facility. Leading the monitoring team were Dr. Rayel D. Concepcion, POGS National President; Dr. Anna Victoria V. Dy-Echo, Chairperson for the Committee on Women’s Cancer; Dr. Lilli May T. Cole, Chairperson for the POGS Manila Declaration; and Dr. Charlene Flores-Lim, CARAGA OB-Gyne Oncologist, together with OB from DOPMH, Dr. Sherryl T. Magdaluyo and Dr. Kristina P. Vendiola. Joining the visit was Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jacqueline Frances F. Momville, who also observed the implementation of the activity.

As part of the supportive supervision, the team observed the actual conduct of VIA screening among Prosperidadnon women, assessed the client flow, reviewed service delivery processes, and discussed the strengths and challenges encountered by the Municipal Health Office in implementing the program. Rather than an inspection alone, the activity served as a collaborative learning session where technical recommendations and practical feedback were shared to further enhance the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of cervical cancer screening services at the local level.

The visit reflects the continued commitment of the Municipal Health Office, under the leadership of Dr. Fritzie Marie L. Jala, to strengthening preventive healthcare through quality-assured women’s health services. With the guidance of POGS and the support of the Provincial Health Office, Prosperidad continues to reinforce its efforts in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer, ensuring that more women in the municipality have access to timely, safe, and life-saving screening services. see more…
