Task Force Bantay Presyo and Supply Monitoring: Price Compliance, Consumer Protection, and Market Oversight

The Municipal Local Price Coordinating Council (MLPCC) and Task Force Bantay Presyo conducted two rounds of market and business establishment inspections on May 24 and May 26, 2026, in the barangays of Patin-ay and Poblacion, respectively in connection with the ongoing Palarong Pambansa activities.
This activity is anchored on Executive Order No. 110, Series of 2026, which formally established the Task Force Bantay Presyo for the duration of the Palarong Pambansa 2026 in the Municipality of Prosperidad.
During the inspections, enforcement teams meticulously evaluated establishments on several critical benchmarks:
• Price Tagging Compliance: Ensuring all retail items are clearly and transparently priced.
• Weighing Scale Accuracy: Testing scales to prevent short-weighing and protect consumers from deceptive practices.
• Regulatory Compliance: Verifying valid business permit registrations and adherence to local health and sanitation standards.
• Solid Waste Management: Checking for proper garbage segregation, disposal and cleanliness in market and commercial areas.
• Supply Monitoring: Assessing the availability and stock levels of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs).
To maintain economic order throughout May 2026, the Task Force operates under a comprehensive mandate designed to balance consumer rights with fair retail practices. Their primary duties include:
• Price Index Monitoring: Closely tracking the price indices of basic goods, rice, and meats within the Municipality of Prosperidad.
• Enforcing the Suggested Retail Price (SRP): Monitoring and reporting unreasonable price spikes or SRP violations to the MLPCC for swift legal action and the imposition of penalties.
• Inter-Agency Enforcement: Executing joint operations to ensure strict adherence to the government’s Maximum Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs) for essential goods, with a particular focus on agricultural products like rice and pork.
• Vendor Engagement: Conducting direct inspections and dialogues with market vendors to foster a culture of cooperation and voluntary compliance.
• Supply Chain Analysis: Identifying cost drivers at every stage of the supply chain to recommend policy and market interventions that mutually benefit local producers and consumers.
• Ensuring Transparent Pricing: Mandating the visible placement of price tags on all goods to uphold and protect basic consumer rights.
• Executive Support: Performing additional duties and oversight responsibilities as directed by the Council Chairman.
The Municipality of Prosperidad remains committed to maintaining fair market conditions and protecting the welfare of consumers and traders alike throughout the Palarong Pambansa 2026.
